Beginning Dec. 1, defendants represented by the public defender or a private appointed attorney will be charged on a sliding scale. The fees will range from a minimum $250 if a case is resolved at the justice court level up to a maximum $750 if the case nears trial or goes to trial. The man fled, then slammed on the brakes forcing the deputy's car to crash into the back of the truck, then backed into the cruiser twice more. Gordon says the deputy got out and fired his handgun.
