If You're Reading This You're Not In Palm Springs

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. (AP) ― More than 600 residents of the Palm Springs area remain without power following a desert rainstorm that closed several roads and flooded some businesses.

National Weather Service officials said over an inch of rain fell in some parts of the Coachella Valley between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Sunday.

A Southern California Edison spokeswoman says the wind and rain battered power lines, knocking out power to some 4,500 residents. She says service is expected to be restored to the final 625 affected customers on Monday morning.

Weather service officials say the rains were limited to a small area of the western Coachella Valley and were not expected to return before Friday.
