Crime-Fighting Cat Honored In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBS) ― The praise just keeps coming for Fred the crime-fighting cat.

The cat took part in a sting operation that caught a phony veterinarian, who allegedly treated pets without a license. Thursday the cat is being honored by Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes.

The ceremony will recognize those who have helped nab felons and solve high-profile criminal cases.

Fred was part of an undercover sting in February to get a man authorities said was pretending to be a veterinarian.

The cat is now in the process of being certified as a therapy cat, and if all goes according to plan, Fred will be a part of a program that will bring him into schools to show children the importance of animal care.
