Woman Wins $10,000 In Cell Phone Texting Contest

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A mobile phone maker set out to find the fastest thumbs in the west at the first round of a national texting competition held in Hollywood, Calif., reports CBS station KOVR-TV in Sacramento.

Saturday's winning thumbs belonged to Eli Tirosh, 21, of Los Angeles who was crowned the LG Mobile Phones West Coast Texting champion in front of a huge crowd of family, friends and competitors. She walked away with $10,000 cash and a trip to New York to battle the East Coast champ for an additional $15,000 grand prize.

The national competition will be hosted by Oliver "Ali" Nejad, a renowned poker player. The competition is open to anyone and free, but they must own and use an activated LG enV or V mobile phone to compete.

The national championship will take place in New York on April 21.
