CNET's Holiday Tech Guide For Gifts Under $99

Brian Cooley
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) ― If there's ever been a year to take it easy on the holiday gift shopping, this is it. But don't left tech gifts scare you… they aren't always synonymous with pricey.

Here are some smart choices for $99 or less.

1. Sandisk Sansa Clip+ 2GB for $39: An mp3 player, that's not an iPod. It sounds great, gets FM radio, has a voice recorder, plays audio links and you can expand its memory with a memory card slot on the side.
2. Apple In-Ear Headphones for $79: The earphones fit in the ear, not just outside like the basic ones. They have a microphone and a remote control that will work with most, but not all, iPods and iPhones.
3. USB Drive Under $20 for 8GB; under $40 for 16GB: It may not sound real sexy, but most about anyone into tech would enjoy a new, huge memory card or USB drive. You can get them now at 8GB capacity for under $20 or 16GB for under $40.
4. Iomega Prestige Desktop Hard Drive for under $95: External hard drives are hot as well. They hold a ton of video, music collections and can backup your entire computer easily. They can be bought for under $95 dollars in 320GB, 500GB and maybe even a TB capacity if you shop hard.

These are just a few good ideas for $99 or less from Brian Cooley, CNET.com, in San Francisco.
