Jack LaLanne Marks 95th Birthday With New Book

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Before there was a "Biggest Loser" or even Richard Simmons, there was Jack LaLanne.

The TV Fitness pioneer, who will turn 95 on Sept. 26, has been working actively in fitness since 1951. And LaLanne isn't done yet – he is sharing his secrets to living young in his new book, Live Young Forever: 12 Steps to Optimum Heath, Fitness & Longevity.

LaLanne, who operated 200 fitness centers around the country during the 1980s, continues to best those more than a third his age. At 70 years old, LaLanne swam 1.5 miles, while handcuffed and shackled, towing 70 boats with 70 people form the Queen's Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary.
