SoCal Tech Community Comes Together at Twiistup

There is a growing tech community in Los Angeles and these folks love to mingle.
At Twiistup, they get their chance.
Far from the huge convention centers that house CES and Macworld, this is a meet and greet on a much smaller scale. Just a handful of startup tech companies feature their websites and let attendees learn more.
The event I attended was at the Air Conditioned Supper Club in Venice. There was the standard web swag - like logoed mouse pads and T-shirts, music pumping and the drinks were flowing. It was kind of like a nightclub scene where everyone wanted to talk tech.
Of course, at this outing - the phone number you hope to get is that of a venture capitalist. They roam the room, hearing startup pitches over drinks and finger foods. If they like what they hear, companies might get a meeting when the sun is actually still in the sky.
You'll also just find a lot of people who work in the tech community - ready to take a load off, relax and mingle with others who do similar work.
