Virtual Video Store Clerks Recommend Great Movies
(CBS)
A new website wants to bring back the personalized movie recommendations you might remember getting from your local video store clerk.
The site is called "clerk dogs." It employs a few dozen "former" video store clerks to write movie recommendations, reviews and analysis on thousands of movies.
To find a movie you might like, start by entering one you already love. The site will recommend similar movies, but also include descriptions like "less mainstream," "equally violent," or "slower, less profanity."
The site seems to hold a lot of promise - the recommendations seem deeper than what you find on those automated sites many of us rely on. Still, clerk dogs is in beta so it can be slow and buggy at times.
