Angie's List Expands To Include Medical Ratings

(CBS) I've seen Angie's List ads here and there for a few years now, and to be honest, I really had no idea what it was all about.  I guess it wouldn't have been too hard to find out, I could have called up the website...but I never did.

That's why I jumped at the opportunity to interview "Angie," the founder of Angie's List.  I was excited at the opportunity to talk to - in person - the woman behind those tiny ads that had intrigued me so many times before.

There isn't much mystery to the site - it's a membership based ratings site, where members basically give the inside scoop on their experiences dealing with a company.  In LA, they have about 20,000 members, and memberships run about six dollars a month.

Only members can grade companies - it's done on a school-like scale, from A to F.  Angie says by not having anonymous ratings or reviews it makes the information a bit more believable.

The company has been around for 13 years - before the web came along they were actually a call-in service.  Now, they're expanding the list of things members can review into medical services.  This means in addition to asking a friend or family member for a good doctor or dentist, you can just check the list.
