Riverside County public health workers planned to administer free swine flu vaccines this week to school children in Banning and Coachella.
Officials hope to offer the free vaccinations to students in each of the county's school districts, Barbara Cole, the director of disease control, told the Press-Enterprise.
"Our goal is to reach as many schools as possible," Cole said. "One of our main targets is young children, so that's an excellent place to reach them."
Vaccination clinics were scheduled to be held Monday, Tuesday and Friday in Banning and Wednesday in Coachella. Children ages 2 to 12 have first priority for the vaccinations, county health officials said.
Supplies, which were being distributed by federal public health officials in Atlanta, were limited. More clinics would be scheduled as vaccines arrived.
