Rampage's Attorney: 'He Suffered Delirium'
Rodney Hunt
(CBS)
Statement From Jackson's Attorney Carol E. Lavacot:
The mental health professionals who evaluated Quinton subsequent to the event concluded that five days later, he was quite rational.
Therefore it is believed that he suffered an episode of delirium brought on by total exhaustion and dehydration compounded by severe stress related issues revealed to him both before and after the July 5th fight.
His conduct on July 15th was totally inconsistent with teh person Quinton Jackson is according to those who know him very well.
Prior to the incident on July 15, Quinton's functioning was very high, very goal directed and he has no history of psychosis.
He reconstituted very quickly indicating that the episode was likely a brief reactive psychosis brought upon by severe stressors and may be related to medical issues.
He currently is not psychotic and it is very unlikely that this will happen again.
He remains in treatment to learn to identify alternative ways of coping and stress reduction techniques.
