Oaks Christian's Montana Commits To UW
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
It is being reported that Oaks Christian QB Nick Montana has committed to the University of Washington. Montana, the son of NFL legend Joe Montana, is a 4-star recruit and a top-15 pro-style QB in the 2010 class according to Rivals.com. Montana has selected Washington over Georgia, Alabama, and LSU amongst others.
Montana's verbal comes on the heels of his unofficial visit to Seattle last weekend. It has also been well documented that Montana has a great relationship with UW Head Coach Steve Sarkisian.
This is one of the first major signings for Sark, who now has 10 commitments for the class of 2010. Three of those 10 come from Southern California, with Montana, Santee WR Tevin Carter, and Narbonne RB Melvin Davis.
Oaks Christian's visit to the Pacific Northwest this fall just became a little more interesting. Oaks Christian is scheduled to play at Skyline HS (Wash.) on September 18th. Skyline is led by top-10 QB Jake Heaps, who just last week turned down UW in favor of offering a verbal to BYU. Lions fans shouldn't be surprised if they end up with more fans on September 18th than they traveled with. Montana says Heaps' commitment to BYU has nothing to do with his decision to attend Washington.
