The Philadelphia 76ers have selected UCLA guard Jrue Holiday with the 17th pick in the NBA draft.
Holiday left the Bruins after only one season and could be used as a combo guard out of the backcourt. The Sixers need a true shooting guard and risk losing starting point guard Andre Miller, who is an unrestricted free agent.
Holiday averaged 8.5 points as UCLA's shooting guard last year and was rated the No. 1 point guard prospect in the country coming out of high school.
The Sixers had only one scheduled pick in Thursday night's draft.
