Lakewood Lancers Forced To Forfeit Games

Lakewood vs. Long Beach Poly As KCAL 9 Game of the Week

Friday night's Moore League opener between Long Beach Poly and Lakewood won't be a battle of unbeatens like we originally thought.

The Long Beach Press Telegram is reporting the Lancers have been forced to forfeit their four wins this season due to a "clerical" error.

It turns out, Lakewood used an ineligible player in those games.

The player has not been named but could return to the team after the next grading period (three weeks) if his grades improve.  ....Obviously, more distractions than Lakewood wanted to encounter in the days leading up to the biggest game of their season so far.

It'll be tough enough to knock off the Jackrabbits minus the off the field issues.  Long Beach Poly hasn't lost a Moore League game since 1994.

Cornell Ward resigned as the head coach of Compton Dominguez folliwing the Dons lost to Redlands East Valley last Friday night.

Special teams coach, Jose Rosas has been named the interim head coach.

Dominguez coaching legend Willie Donerson, who retired at the end of last season, will return on a volunteer basis.

Dominguez (0-4) will attempt to pick up their first win of the season the Friday at Western Division foe, Leuzinger.
