McCourts Ready To Battle Over Dodgers Ownership?
Frank McCourt Fires Wife Jamie As Team's CEO
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
A lawyer for Dodgers CEO Jamie McCourt says she has an interest in owning the team.
She was ousted Thursday as Dodgers CEO, fired by her husband Frank, the team owner.
Attorney Dennis Wasser says Jamie McCourt learned Thursday she was no longer employed by the Dodgers, who ended their season Wednesday with a National League championship series loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.
McCourt and husband Frank McCourt separated earlier this month.
Wasser says Jamie McCourt is disappointed and saddened by her termination. He says she'll address her firing in court.
Mark Coogan, reporting for NewsCentral, says "battle lines are clearly being drawn."
The LA Times reports that Jamie McCourt has been exploring options to take over the team with backers.
Jamie McCourt was the highest-ranking woman in Major League Baseball. Her attorney refers to her as a "team co-owner."
Frank McCourt's legal reps have referred to him as "the team's sole owner."
