Jeff Kent Undergoes Arthroscopic Surgery

LOS ANGELES (AP) ―

Dodgers second baseman Jeff Kent might be able to return to action later this month after having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee today.

The Dodgers say the outpatient procedure took 20 minutes, no additional problems were discovered and Kent will be able to begin the rehabilitation process tomorrow.

The five-time All-Star and former NL MVP left Friday night's game against Arizona with pain in his left knee. An MRI taken Sunday revealed torn cartilage and he was placed on the disabled list for the first time since 2006.

The 40-year-old Kent is hitting .275 with 11 homers and 57 RBIs.
