City Council Declares Derek Fisher Day In L.A.

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― It's Derek Fisher Day in Los Angeles.

The Lakers' point guard was honored in a Los Angeles City Council ceremony Wednesday morning.

The 11-year NBA veteran has been a member of three Laker championship teams.

Council members have praised Fisher as both a player and a role model.

Fisher had 17 points in Tuesday night's 117-105 win over the Sacramento Kings.
