Clippers Select Indiana Guard Eric Gordon
NEW YORK (AP) ―
The Los Angeles Clippers have selected Indiana guard Eric Gordon with the seventh overall selection in the NBA draft.
Gordon was named to the AP All-America Third Team after leading the Big Ten in scoring last season. He set a conference scoring record for freshmen with 669 points, topping Michael Redd's mark set in 1998. Gordon averaged 20.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists before deciding to leave the Hoosiers after one season.
The 6-foot-4 Gordon hit seven 3-pointers while scoring 33 rebounds in his first game last season, the most points ever in an Indiana debut. It was one of three games in which he scored at least 30 points, and one of 19 in which he had 20 or more. He was chosen the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was a unanimous First Team all-conference selection.
Gordon can do it all on offense, although he shot only 43 percent for the Hoosiers. He will drive to the basket and draw fouls before taking advantage of his .834 free throw percentage.
