Says He's Been Clean Since 2003

Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts has broken his silence about his steroids use.
Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts is breaking his silence on the inclusion of his name in former Sen. George Mitchell's report on steroid use in major league baseball.
In a statement to the Baltimore Sun, Roberts acknowledged that he used steroids "once" in 2003. However, he said he hadn't used steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs since.
He said that after the single injection he immediately realized that it was not what he "stood for" or anything he wanted to continue doing. He said he's sorry he did it, and he said he regrets making what he says was a "terrible decision."
Roberts was named in the Mitchell report because former teammate Larry Bigbie told investigators Roberts had told him he used steroids "once or twice" in 2003.
A common, yet cynical, thread on Orioles blogs these days is if so many of our players juiced, why wasn't the team any better than it was?
Jay Gibbons is the only other current Oriole named in the report. He received a 15-day suspension from the Commissioner's Office on December 6 for violation of Major League Baseball's drug policies.
