2008 Presidential Hopefuls

For the first time since 1928, neither the incumbent president nor the sitting vice president are running for the country's highest office. More than a dozen politicians have taken at least the first step of forming an exploratory committee to help raise cash and determine their viability. Here's an alphabetical look at some of the current contenders.

Announced formation of exploratory committee on Jan. 20, 2007

Clinton has been the Democratic frontrunner since long before her official announcement. The former first lady brings star power, a vast network of supporters and donors and a seasoned team of political advisers. But she's also been known as a polarizing personality prompting questions about her electability nationally. (AP)
