As long as there have been politicians and celebrities, there have been sex scandals. Thomas Jefferson anyone? He had less interest in freeing the slaves than partying with them...and he wasn't the only one. Here, some of the bigger sex scandals of recent memory.

In October 2008, congressman Tim Mahoney, a Democrat in Florida, was implicated in a sex scandal after it was learned he paid off a woman he had had an affair with. Turns out, there was another woman. Mahoney admitted to "at least" two affairs but said he broke no laws and that he wouldn't resign his seat. Ironically, Mahoney admitted that one of the affairs began as he was running a "family values" campaign. Ha! Oh, and for more irony: Mahoney was running for the seat left vacant by Mark Foley, the Republican who resigned after the scandal broke that purported he was sending inappropriate and sexually-charged IMs and E mails to male pages.
