O.C. Teens Plead Not Guilty To Hacking Charges

SANTA ANA (AP) ― Two Orange County high school seniors say they didn't hack into school computers to steal tests or change grades.

Omar Kahn and Tanvir Singh plead not guilty to a combined 73 felony counts of altering public records, computer access and fraud, identity theft and conspiracy at the Harbor Justice Center on Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Kahn repeatedly broke into Tesoro High School in Mission Viejo with a stolen master key to hack into computers and change grades.

The 18-year-olds were caught by a janitor one night in a classroom and fled the scene.

OC Sheriff spokesman Jim Amormino said the schemes were sophisticated, and the boys might have been better served by just studying.

A pretrial hearing has been set for Sept. 16.
