Teacher Busted For Allegedly Having Child Porn
LOS ANGELES
A 56-year-old special-education teacher was in custody Wednesday for alleged possession of child pornography, the FBI reported.
Ivan Carcelen, of Glendale, who teaches at an East LA middle school, was arrested Tuesday night and booked on suspicion of possession of matter depicting a minor engaging in sexual conduct, said Laura Eimiller of the FBI.
Carcelen, whose bail was set at $30,000, teaches at David W. Griffith
Middle School, 4765 E. Fourth St., Eimiller said.
KCAL 9's Randy Paige spoke to Carcelen's father who said the charges against his son were bogus and that he would "never, ever" harm a child.
Carcelen's arrest followed an investigation by the FBI's SAFE (Sexual Assault Felony Enforcement) task force.
Anyone allegedly victimized by Carcelen was urged to call the FBI's 24-
hour number, (310) 477-6565.
Los Angeles Unified School District officials placed Carcelen on unpaid
leave when they were informed of his arrest, according to a district statement.
The school also sent children home with a note explaining Carcelen's arrest and that he was no longer welcome at the school.
