8 Belmont High Students Arrested In Fake Bomb Plot
LOS ANGELES
Eight students from Belmont High School were arrested Thursday on suspicion of planting a fake bomb and spraying hate-related vandalism on their campus.
Swastikas and other graffiti were found on the campus April 2. School officials also found a mysterious package with swastikas and "April 3, 2008" marked on it.
The words "Beware. It's Time." and other graffiti were scrawled on school walls, and 30 doors were found glued shot.
A bomb squad was called in to investigate the package, which turned out to be a radio or CD player.
LAPD investigators say the suspects, three of whom are 18 years old, could face criminal charges in adult court, were trying to stage a hoax to scare students and administrators.
