Firefighters from all over California, and some from out of state, have been working tirelessly to save lives and homes that have been affected by the Sayre and Triangle Complex fires. We here at CBS 2 / KCAL 9 would like to thank these heroes for their sacrifice and service to our communities. Please send us
your messages
of thanks. Here is what YOU have to say: I live in Anaheim Hills. Thank you so much for all your help. We had to evacuate but when we came home and saw all the fire trucks it was very comforting to know you were close by. Thank you!
- Bernadette, Anaheim Hills
Words can't begin to express the gratitude and heartfelt thanks we owe you. So many of you came together on our behalf, from so many departments and cities, and made our homes and our lives your priority. You have touched us in ways you may never fully understand, it seems so small and insignificant to just say "Thank You". But, we truly do thank you, and pray that our Lord will bless you, as you have blessed us and so many others.
- The Elmassian, Feikema, and Zeimas families, Chino Hills
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for saving Chino Hills. It was 3:00 am Sunday morning when my husband and I saw flames from our bedroom window. We drove around 3:30 am and saw the hills that surround our neighborhood were in flames. From our backyard, we saw so many fire trucks from different cities followed by news vans from KCAL9, CBS2 and CNN. Something that I will never forget is the scene that I saw from the hill to our left, where a band of fire fighters stood side-by-side for the "fire block". Your heroic efforts are what saved our beautiful community!
- Cathy P., Chino Hills
Dear Firefighters and Police Officers, With all my heart, I want to thank you all so very much for everything that you have done for the city of Diamond Bar. Thank you for saving all the homes in Diamond Bar. I kept praying and while trying to sleep I would wake up in the middle of the night and start praying. I will continue to pray for the whole entire world so that nobody has to ever leave their home again when there is a fire. May God give all of you the strength to continue your outstanding work always and may your lives be filled with peace, joy, happiness, and most of all everlasting eternal love. May God bless you and your whole families always.
- Vicky R., Diamond Bar

Dear Brave Heroes, Thank you for saving my city. I have lived in Diamond Bar my entire life (30 years) and the fire departments in our area have always been the best in the world. Now, in conjunction with so many other departments, your efforts saved my city from terrible destruction. This time, my own house was not in danger, but Diamond Bar is my home and I owe you a bigger debt of gratitude than I can ever repay you for saving my home.
- Candace, Diamond Bar

No words can convey the deep appreciation and respect that my family has for all ERT's in general. We had witnessed first hand how apparent your dedication and heroic efforts are in times such as these when you came to the sid of those involved in the Metrolink Crash in September 2008. Our nephew was one of the youth that was killed in that crash and your teams worked through the night trying to rescue and survivors and deceased so that the families can have a sense of closure. Thank you for your COMMITMENT to OUR SAFETY!!!!!! Lord Bless you, Protect you and Strengthen your weary bodies.
- Charlene, Lancaster
We live off of Glenoaks and Foothill near the Oakridge Mobile Park. The firefighters saved many homes along Foothill from devastation. You can see burned trees all along Foothill where the fire jumped the 210 freeway. The new KB homes near the 5 and 210 were all saved. The fire had gone up to their lawns. Thank you soooo much!
- Ervin and Caroline, Sylmar
You are all cherished! For everything you do, for your cities, families and friends. Thank you for all your courage to keep us safe from nature fighting against you! From those who cannot give you thanks at this time, I give it for them and know you did everything in your power to save what was possible! I am relieved no one is severely hurt and hope you all get some much needed rest! Blessed Be
- Cindi, Yorba Linda

- Partida, San Juan Capistrano
I do not live in the fire affected areas though I breathe the smoke..I don't know how you all do what you do; I only know this: You are heroes and I don't know what we would all do without people like you! Bless you and your families. When I start thinking how I hate the smoke & ash, I realize you are right in the middle of it saving lives & property. You are remarkable human beings & we are blessed to share this world with you. Thank you!
- Tracey S., Long Beach
Thank you to all the fire fighters who saved our community in Chino Hills. Your quick work and proactive approach changed the course of many people's lives for the better. THANK YOU. You are greatly appreciated.
- Christie S., Chino Hills
Please also thank our brave men and women, our Police Officers, working to ensure our safety during these firestorms. Not to take away from our firefighters who do a heroic job, but I have noticed that our Police Officers usually go unrecognized and yet are instrumental in fighting fires. Officer are the first to notify people of approaching danger, guide in evacuating people out of harms way, ensure roads are clear for emergency vehicles, and protect our properties from looters. Police officers are subjected to the same long exhausting hours and hazardous conditions during a firestorm and merit our appreciation, as do our firefighters in keeping us safe. Thank You Both!
- Anna, Brea
Brave men and women I am in New Mexico serving in the military but my two children are in the Chino Hills area. I would like to extend my appreciation and thanks for your hard work, dedication and sacrifices you provide day in and day out, but especially now with the trying fires at your heels! Thank you for your hard work!
- Mark, Alamogordo

- Rosa, Brea
On behalf of the Rowland Heights residence, we thank you all to block the fire from crossing 57 Freeway. You effort helps saving hundreds of home in the Rowland Heights area. Your hard work around the clock paid off and helped protect our homes.
- Brian, Rowland Heights
Dear Firefighters, I don't live in any of the areas you are currently fighting fires in, but I wanted to thank you for the great job you are doing to protect the lives and structures in those fire areas. I teach Sunday school to Kindergarten and 1st grade students at the Crystal Cathedral and we prayed for safety for the firefighters and police officers who are doing their jobs in the fire areas, as well as for the affected families, people, and children. As I was explaining to them what was happening, I could see in our students' innocent faces, their concern for what was going on in our Southern California community. Thank you for all of your efforts. Be safe. God bless you all, Shoko and Aiko
- Shoko A., Garden Grove
Thank you for all that you do!!! You are true HEROS!

- Shaday S., Anaheim Hills
Thanks to all you guys and girls for putting out the fires in Yorba Linda and saving my house, and my cousin and my aunt's house also.

Much love and appreciation goes out to all who were risking their lives to save ours. Even though the area I live in has not been in danger, I feel safe because of all of you who are helping put them out. My thanks also goes out to those who are incarcerated who are risking their lives. I know that they never get mentioned and most people do not even know that they exist. If there is anything I can do to help I am here to help as well. Thank everyone for me.

To coin a word from Extreme Makeover last night, if there was a word that meant MORE than THANK YOU, THAT would be the word, but there really IS no word for what you guys do. You, like our service people overseas, are what this country is all about.
- Dale, Yucaipa
You are all truly selfless in your efforts to provide safety for those around you. You run into a fire as others are running away, you are true heroes to all of us and role models to our youth. May God bless you all and keep you safe.

You work hours we would never willingly work day after day. Your job puts you in dangers we will never face. You do this for each of us so that we will hopefully have a home to go to when you are done. Each of you has my respect and admiration. Hold your head up with pride you give your best.

I am a mail carrier in Riverside,CA. I deliver to a firefighter on my route. He was one of the first responders to the "Freeway Fire" in Corona. His fire truck was over run in the Santa Ana river bed at the beginning of the fire. I found out from his wife that afternoon. He suffered minor injuries and was released from the hospital. After all this he was ready and willing to get back on the front lines to help his crew and public. This is a true hero to me. God bless him and his family for all they do in our time of need.
-Jackie J., Lake Elsinore

No words can express how deeply we appreciate what you have done to our community, that none of the homes in Chino Hills and Diamond Bar were affected by the fire. Awesome work! I have many friends live in these two cities, Walnut, as well as Rowland Heights. So, on behalf of my friends, again, thank you so much! May God bless you in return.
-Bina Sidharta, Chino Hills
I would just like to say a big THANK YOU for all you do to save the homes in the fire storm's path. I do not live anywhere near the fire area, but I do live down wind. Every time I start to get a complaining thought about all the smoke in the air, I think about all the fire fighters that are in the middle of it all, and all the residents that live up there, and I can't even image how bad it is there ... and that puts a stop to my complaining thoughts. My heart goes out to all of you. Thank you for your bravery and dedication.
-Barbara, Westminster
Thank you for protecting our homes on the hills of Rowland Heights by battling back the fire in Brea. Even at a mile away the smoke had caused all kinds of breathing issues for me, I can only imagine what it was like on the front lines. Thank you for the tremendous job and heroic efforts.
-Eric, Rowland Heights
Dear firefighters, police officers, and fellow emergency crews, Thank you for all your courage, hope, and bravery that you all have showed us these past days. You remind us why we, as Americans, are proud to call this our home, our country. Your bravery beyond the call of duty has been noted and we will never forget that at one point in time, it was nothing but you between our homes protecting them from the fire. From the bottom of our hearts, I and many others of the community of Diamond Bar thank you. These words cannot express our gratitude. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
-Jason, Diamond Bar
Thank you so much for taking time away from you family and friends to save my family and friends. So much thanks and praise. May God bless you all.
-Kelli, Chino Hills
Thank you so much for risking so much for all we hold dear. Crews from as far away as Marin County protected our hills through Saturday and Sunday nights and allowed us to rest easier knowing that our homes were in good hands. "Thank you" does not even come close to the gratitude we want to express to all of you. Deep thanks, also, to our police force who keep order, and all the volunteers and city people at the Community Center who generously left their homes to care for those who had to leave theirs. To all of you brave heroes-- Thank You-- from our family and the many families in our city.
- Carlota, Brea
Your expertise, professionalism, and dedication are nothing short of awe inspiring. Thank you for your extraordinary effort.

You all did such a GREAT JOB with the evacuation process-caring and efficient. And everyone has been so nice. The 211 emergency info system worked great - those people were so helpful and friendly and had up-to-date, accurate information.
- Diane S., Chino Hills

- Karen V., Yorba Linda
I am truly and forever grateful for all your hard work to ensure the safety of our homes and lives through this devastating fire. I would also like to thank law enforcement who played an important role. I remember seeing a police officer on the news, standing on the roof of a house with merely a mask, and short-sleeved shirt, hosing down the house next to one that was already burning. You are all so greatly appreciated and I will continue to pray for you, my heroes, as you are still fighting the fires out there. Thank you again and God bless you and your families.
- Jenn, Yorba Linda

Didn't have to evacuate this time! We are blessed to have such dedicated and caring people among us. You all worked so hard and for so long in the heat and smoke. Please know so many are appreciative and grateful...God Bless you and keep you.
- Shelley M., Chino Hills
I want to thank the men and women that put their lives on the line to serve their communities and communities of others. I have been sharing my story of the past few days with anyone that will listen. I live in south Diamond Bar east of the 57. My neighbors and I watched and waited on Sunday as we were the only street in our area not under mandatory evacuation. The work that was done to save our community is beyond words. What courage, character, endurance and strength these men and women must have. The air attack on the fires was unbelievable to watch - what awesome air cowboys. I have told everyone that if they get the chance, stop and thank a firefighter, CHP, Sherriff and police. We forget what they do to protect us on a day to day basis, but we are very lucky to have people that will do what they do. Once again thank you to all that serve us. God bless you and take care. You are our guardian angels.
- Darci, Diamond Bar
From all of us in Santa Barbara, Thank you to all the Firefighters, Emergency Workers, and Police Officers for saving us for the third time in fifteen months. We really thought our city was in trouble this time. We thought there wasn't any way a fire so close to the city could be stopped before destroying it. Whoever raised money for those night vision goggles so the helicopters could fly at night deserves a medal. We wouldn't be here without you. God Bless You- Every one of you! You all deserve a big hug and a fat raise.
- Ziggy H., Santa Barbara
True heroes! Words cannot express how awesome all our firefighters are and all you do everyday, especially during such trying times! THANK YOU!
- Bridget M., Fontana
Thank you so much for everything! If it wasn't for those firefighters, our house wouldn't be there any more. Thank you for letting us have another blessed holiday in our home. Thanks!

My name is Mike and I live off Partridge Drive in Brea. My personal thanks go out to the brave fire fighters who saved my home. How they did it is beyond me! As I was evacuating and pulling out of my driveway there was a fire fighter in a yellow truck who I think was from Garden Grove and he said to me "Don't worry man you're not going to lose your house"! I can't tell you how much that meant to me! It gave me hope!!! Thank you again for your bravery! I owe you big time!!! Mike
-Michael L., Brea

You are truly heroes. We can't thank you enough for what you did in our community. We live in the Box Canyon area and know that without your protection, the homes in our track would have been lost. May God bless you all and keep you safe.

Seeing flames from our bedroom windows felt like being invaded by foreign forces. Watching firetrucks rolling in from different parts of California and witnessing those brave firefighters marching up and down the hills felt like seeing the Cavalry. It was such a huge feeling of relief! Thank you all for the firefighters and all law enforcement agencies for saving our city.
- Angelo, Chino Hills

To all the fire men and women: I almost feel as if "Thank You" just isn't a strong enough term to describe the gratitude that I have for all of you, but i will say it anyways. Thank You all so incredibly much. I dont know how you do it. You guys worked tirelessly to protect so many homes and families this past week and for that and much more we are all forever in debt to you. Thank you for each and every call you run fire, medical or minor, each and every day. You guys are truly angels without wings and we are all so appreciative of your commitment and courage.
