A small earthquake has rattled inland parts of central California.

The Caltech Seismological Laboratory says a temblor with a preliminary magnitude of 3.6 struck early Thursday, just minutes after midnight, about 17 miles of Trona.

It says the epicenter was nearly two miles deep, and about 122 miles west of Las Vegas.

No one reported feeling the quake on the U.S. Geological Survey's Web site, which also reported the temblor.
