Bushes' New Neighborhood May Become Gated

DALLAS (CBS) ― When the Bushes leave the White House in two weeks and move to Dallas, their neighborhood may be gated, reports CBS station KTVT-TV.

The gate may be on Daria Drive and Meaders Lane, which is at the beginning of the Preston Hallow neighborhood. The house, which is worth more than $2 million, is on Daria Place.

Weeks after the Bushes announced they were moving to the neighborhood, people are still driving by to look at their new house. From the street, it appears work is being done inside the 8,500 square-foot house.

The residents of the neighborhood say they're tired of seeing traffic come through the area and say they support having a gate or some kind of restricted access to the neighborhood.

Normally, city officials say the only way to restrict access to a street is to have the residents buy the street from the city.

But a state law - passed when former President George H.W. Bush retired to Houston - allows cities to restrict street access if a former president lives on it.

Neighborhood residents will meet this weekend to discuss their options.
