Union Election Could Decide Schwarzenegger Recall

Thursday's election could determine whether the California Correctional Peace Officers Association continues with its recall effort of Gov. Schwarzenegger.

The union representing California prison guards is meeting in Las Vegas for a leadership vote that could have an impact on California politics.
Delegates entering the conference room were greeted by screens that read, "Get ready for the ride of your life -- Total Recall."
The signs are a reference to Governor Schwarzenegger's 1990 movie and the union's push to recall the state's top official.
Thursday's election could determine whether the California Correctional Peace Officers Association continues with its recall effort.
The prison guards union is one of the richest and most influential lobbying forces in state government.
That influence was on display last week, when it filed the paperwork to begin a recall campaign against Schwarzenegger.
