Heart Furious That McCain-Palin Used 'Barracuda'

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― The rock group Heart is furious with the McCain campaign for using their 1977 song "Barracuda" at the RNC.

TMZ broke the story that Heart's Nancy Wilson filed a cease and desist order with the campaign to keep them from using the song.

Wilson reportedly told EW magazine that she felt "completely [expletive deleted] over by McCain-Palin using the song as her theme. In political circles in Alaska, Palin is known as "Sarah Barracuda."

Wilson told EW that after asking McCain to stop using the song she hoped her wishes would be granted.

McCain used the song again Thursday night.

Nancy and sister Ann have since issued a statement to the magazine. "Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image."

Heart's rep, meanwhile, told TMZ: "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission."

Other musicians have also asked the Republican campaign to stop using their music. Reportedly John Mellencamp, Van Halen and Jackson Browne.

For their part, Van Halen's people told TMZ they wouldn't let Barack Obama use their music either. The group says they are not political "just rock and roll."
