The son of former California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, charged with murder in the stabbing death of a college student, is scheduled to be arraigned in San Diego Thursday.
Esteban Nunez and his three friends and are accused of killing a 22-year-old student and injuring three other men on the San Diego State University campus.
Police say the defendants were seeking revenge after they were turned away from a fraternity party and that they tried to destroy evidence.
An arrest warrant quotes witnesses who said they saw Nunez burn clothes and knives on the day of the October 4th attack.
The defendants were arrested in Sacramento on Tuesday and taken to San Diego, where they were each charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor vandalism.
Fabian Nunez, who was the longest-serving speaker in California's era of legislative term limits, said he believes his son will be cleared of the charges.
