Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is abruptly postponing talks leaders had hoped would solve the final details to closing the state's $26.3 billion budget deficit until Monday.
The top four legislative leaders had been set to meet with Schwarzenegger Sunday evening.
Schwarzenegger spokesman Aaron McLear said Sunday the governor delayed talks until Monday because Assembly Speaker Karen Bass wasn't available until late Sunday.
But Bass says she's ready to meet as scheduled.
The leaders are trying to bridge remaining pitfalls that include how much money to borrow from local governments, whether to guarantee that schools will be repaid money they lose during poor economic times and how much money to save for future budget emergencies.
