Rescue Group Needs Help To Feed Sea Lions, Pups

LAGUNA BEACH (CBS) ― The Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Orange County has rescued nearly 200 seals and sea lions this year...many of them only pups.

And many of them are starving.

Dave Turner, a KCAL 9 photo journalist, shot the video linked to this story.

Currently, the Mammal Center is housing nearly 100 seals and pups, a record.

And, holy mackeral, these guys eat a lot of fish.

Richard Evans, of the Pacific Marine Mammal Center, says "In a normal year, we spend roughly $30,000 on fish but due to the heavy influx this year of all the pups, we have already spent $48,000. So you can see we are pretty much in the hole on that number."
