Authorities hope the clear images on surveillance video made public today will lead them to whoever stole a 3-month-old yellow Labrador retriever -- worth $1,300 -- from a Stanton pet shop.
The dog was taken from Pet City, 7041 Katella Ave., about 5 p.m. Dec. 22, said Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Two men came into the store, spent several minutes talking to clerks, and then stole the animal while one distracted a cashier, Amormino said.
The stolen puppy -- which is fitted with an identifying microchip -- is similar to the canine in the Christmas hit movie "Marley and Me," Amormino said.
Surveillance tape offers "extremely vivid" depictions of the suspects, Amormino said.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the sheriff department's tip line, (866) TIP-OCSD, or (866) 847-6273.
