Where The Heck Is Moe? Famed Chimp Still Missing

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― There is still no sign of Moe the chimp, who vanished last week in the San Bernardino National Forest after escaping his cage.

Mike McCasland, a friend of Moe's owners LaDonna and St. James Davis, says volunteers have been "following every lead and rumor," without any luck.

The 42-year-old Moe became a celebrity during the decades he lived in the couple's West Covina home before biting incidents led to a high-profile 1990s court battle that led to his removal from the Los Angeles suburb.

He vanished Friday from Jungle Exotics, a facility in the Devore area of San Bernardino County.

McCasland says Moe is probably holed up near a water source and living on berries and leaves.

Tomorrow, volunteers familiar with roads in the forest plan to begin patrols in four Jeeps.
