In his first preseason appearance for the Minnesota Vikings (and his first snap in a Vikings uniform), Brett Favre played in only two series and threw for only four passes.
Still, Favre suspects he may have cracked a rib in the game against Kansas City shortly over a week ago. He told ESPN sideline reporter, Michelle Tafoya, he was injured after being hit by Kansas City linebacker, Corey Mays, on his last play.
While Favre's injury has not been officially diagnosed, nor have any other Vikings mentioned the injury, Favre indicated he is experiencing discomfort when he takes deep breaths.
Regardless if his rib is cracked, Favre is still playing against Houston tonight. He is expected to start the entire first half tonight, and may even play into the third quarter.
However, Favre has said he will not wear protective padding over his ribs. Favre has already proven that his arm is back in form. Despite undergoing bicep surgery only a few months ago, Favre's arm seems as strong as ever.
But will the rest of the 40-year old survive a 16-game season, especially without taking extra precautions. Or does Favre's cracked rib foreshadow an injury-racked season.
