The sponsors of the November ballot measure that outlawed same-sex marriage in California want to be exempt from having to name their donors in the next round of campaign finance reports due at the end of the month.
Lawyers for ProtectMarriage.com and the National Organization for Marriage California requested an injunction late Friday. They're asking a federal judge to block state officials from forcing the groups to disclose the information.
The motion came in a lawsuit that gay marriage ban supporters brought last week seeking to have their previous campaign finance records removed from the secretary of state's Web site.
They say opponents of Proposition 8 have used the information to harass and intimidate their donors.
