Bus Overturns In Northern California, Killing 8

WILLIAMS, Calif. (AP) ― Authorities say ten people died and dozens were injured after a Greyhound bus overturned in north-central California.

The crash happened Sunday around 6:12 p.m. around Williams, which is about 60 miles north of Sacramento.

California Highway Patrol dispatcher Terry Troth says at least 30 people were injured. He says the bus was headed to Colusa Casino Resort from
Sacramento.

The driver of a charter bus that was involved in a fatal crash has been arrested. The California Highway Patrol says it believes the driver was
driving under the influence of drugs, though investigators are still trying to determine if the driver had taken prescription or non prescription drugs.

A spokesman for the California Highway Patrol says when police and paramedics arrived they found what he termed "walking wounded and dead bodies laying around."

Investigators say the driver of the bus "overcorrected" when it drifted to one side of a rural road.

Authorities say the injured are being transported to several area hospitals.

No other cars are reported to be involved in the crash. The severity of any injuries is unclear.

The CHP says the bus had an invalid Texas license plate. He says other registration serial numbers also came up invalid.
