Dodgers, Giants Benches Clear, No Punches Thrown

Both the San Francisco and Los Angeles benches have cleared in the bottom of the fifth inning of the teams' series finale Wednesday, but no punches were thrown. There were no ejections, either.

The Giants' Pablo Sandoval took issue with an inside pitch from James McDonald, gesturing at the pitcher with his fist. Dodgers catcher Russell Martin then had words with Sandoval, and Edgar Renteria raced out of San Francisco's dugout as both benches emptied. Moments earlier, Eugenio Velez came hard into home and collided with Martin as the Giants took a 1-0 lead.

San Francisco skipper Bruce Bochy had already been ejected in the second inning for arguing.
