A Metrolink commuter train and a freight train collided in the afternoon hours of Sept. 12, 2008, in Los Angeles, Calif.

Authorities have confirmed 24 were killed and more than 100 people injured after a Metrolink train and a Union Pacific train collided in Chatsworth, near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and the 118 Freeway.
- Metrolink Train 111 from Los Angeles' Union Station was en route to Moorpark
- At least 25 killed
- About 135 injured including 45 critical, 40 serious and 40 minor
- 40 patients flown to hospitals by helicopter
- 7 Union Pacific cars overturned
- 1 Metrolink car overturned
- 222 passengers aboard Metrolink train
- Triage center set up at Chatsworth High School
- NTSB, FRA investigators on scene
- LAPD Officer Spree Desha, 35, among those killed
- LA County Sheriff's Deputy John Ebert, 55, is in critical condition
