I felt it. It was scary.. I know more than anybody!!!!
- Nomi, Lawndale
My whole apartment building shook very hard. All the windows were rattling, The hanging lights outside our door were swinging.. I've never felt a quake so hard. We live near the literally across the street from the airport and are used to loud noises and light rumbling, but this quake we knew it was not any airplane. I wanted to add that my family in Oceanside felt the quake.. not nearly as strong but they did feel it.
- Victoria C., El Segundo
My knees went forward but there wasn't a strong shake. The switch for our light was shaking, and our dog jumped up. It didn't last very long, but it was definitely a rolling quake as opposed to a shake.
- Lindsay, Camp Pendleton
Yes and was talking to a gal in Big Bear City and she felt it just seconds after I did. Live in a moble home and no damage but it shook.
- Irene B., Riverside
Felt very slight shaking. It seemed to go on for 20 seconds or so.
- Alex F., San Diego
Yup! I was sitting in my car. I thought my son decided to be funny and bounce on the back of the car. I even yelled at him to stop, then, I lookes at the townhomes in front of me, and noticed the window blindes shaking violently. Nothinh like 1994, but still... whew!

It was an earthquake unlike any other that I have felt because I felt it under my feet first. Usually you feel the rocking/shaking motion but in this case I could feel it from the ground up. It was very bizarre! We felt it pretty strongly here in Northridge.

I was in the apartment by myself because my son had taken the dog out. He called me and said that the ground was shaking and did I feel it. I was in the 1971 earthquake and the 1994 earthquake. I was at work about to leave out the door. I work in retail, so the whole front of the store is glass. To add there isn't a good place to take cover. My co-workers and myself were shook but ok. It lasted for a while. I don't live that far from my job, so when i got home, I was still in my car when the after shock happend. I've been in a lot of earthquakes. I was injured in the Northridge quake. Even though this one wasn't as large as that one, I'm still shook up.
- Brandi, Los Angeles
My son felt the roll of the quake here all the way in Granada Hills.
- Sonya, Granada Hills
I felt a light rumble beneath me as I layed in bed, and after a few seconds of rumbling, It felt as if a Truck had slammed into our house or an Explosion had just gone off in a neighboring City.
- Christopher E., Hawthorne

My neighbors' dogs were barking a lot but I thought it was normal bark. Suddenly, a 2-minute shake suddenly approach. As I kept my windows open, I could see the fan shaking badly and my keychains on the wall shake badly. I was sitting down when it happened so I don't feel it as strong as the one which happened in July.
- Steffanie, Culver City
I felt my whole house shake. No house damage was done. My cat had detected the earthquake about 10 seconds before I felt it. It was pretty shocking.
- Noman K., Inglewood
Felt shaking in the 3rd floor of our apartment building. Good jolt for us down here!
- Jason, San Diego
Well I was in the car and stopped at a red light and I just felt something shake and I told my parents, is it just me or was that an earthquake? And they thought I was crazy. A minute later, a friend calls me saying it was an earthquake and my aunt called my mom.
- Juan M., Los Angeles
A loud noise and then a very bad jolt that lasted about 2-3 seconds. Some glass rattled and some objects fell over.
- Elizabeth C., Hazelridge
It was pretty bad, up and down movements and since we're at the top level of the airport it was nothing BUT scary thoughts as the sound was like a deep boom. Our lights were flickering and our screens were dancing, we had to hold on to our counters.
-Dulce B., LAX airport
At first we felt a sort of slow rolling movement below us...my fiance and I looked at each other and both said "what's that?"..by that time I knew it was an earthquake, and soon after the rolling, a few quick jolts of shaking that lasted only a few seconds..then it went back to small rolling motion. Some things fell off of tables, and the pets were pretty shaken up.

-Carman D, Downtown L.A. Westin Bonaventure
It was like a small explosion under my house and once it stopped the rolling sensation started. I have lived in the South Bay all my life but this one had to be the worst I've felt in along time. Pictures hanging on the wall started to change positions. It was kind of ironic that the one picture that moved the most was one in my office of a Memorial the 9/11 tradegy.
-Judi H., East of 405 Freeway
At the current time of the EarthQuake, I was upstairs in my room watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and suddenly I felt this extremely loud rattle, and my music instruments start to fall down. My electronic keyboard fell, my microphone and mic stand fell, although I wasn't scared but I did go downstairs having my hand covered to my head, checking on the rest of the family. They did feel the Earthquake, but it was nothing then what I felt or heard. Unfortuately, my music collection albums fell breaking over $200 worth of items.
-Stewart, Hollywood
I heard it before I felt it. Our apartment building jerked. It didnt last very long maybe 10 to 20 second, but it sure reminded me on how the Northridge Earthquake started. I waited to see if this earthquake was going to slow down and go away or start shacking harder. No damage out here just nerves are rattled.
-Melissa P., Sun City
I was sitting at my desk surfing the internet when all of a sudden the room started to rock back and forth and the windows were shaking like someone was banging on the windows. It lasted for about 10 seconds.

-Lauren R., Carson
Rolling vibrations over about 10 seconds, strong enough to shake house for about 1/2 a second to cause concern, but things got softer after about 5 seconds, and was "the normal" kind of shaking thereafter...
-Jim H., Irvine
It began as a soft sway for 5 seconds then it began to jolt real strongly. I was on the phone with a friend that lives in long beach when it hit. She screamed earthquake almost 3 seconds after I did. The epicenter is down the hill from where I live to my shock. I felt the aftershock 5 mins after the main event. I'm nervous about going to sleep since I am so close to the epicenter.
-Chassity, Inglewood
I was just talking over the phone.Suddenly the ground was shaking. I thought it was the sound that was coming from my upstairs. After 5 seconds the intensity increased and then I realized that it was a earthquake and I just tried to open my door.suddenly the door struck for the first time and after wards it opened. I felt so scared.
-Sarada N., Santa Ana
The feeling was a small, low vibration. My dog began barking at the rattling of furniture. In Glendale this quake felt weaker than the small one 2 weeks ago, albeit a little longer in duration.

-Robin T., Huntington Beach
I was cooking dinner and felt the floor rumble for about 10 seconds, what seemed like a 1 second break and then a very strong jolt. I felt one of the aftershocks. (Just a light rumble) Nothing fell off of my sons bobblehead shelf. I can't believe it.

-Monica R., Long Beach
I was on the phone with my friend who is in West L.A. She said,"There's an earthquake. Can you feel it?" I couldn't for a few seconds and then it hit my house. Whole house shook really well. Blinds were banging against each other, chains for the blinds, etc. And the house walls were creaking. Lasted about 10 seconds. It was my first earthquake since I recently moved here from the UK. At first I was really scared when the dogs jumped up and climbed on top of me. Then after the first bump the following bumps were not as scary however still very shocking. There was no damge on our house however I was sat on the sofa and it slid across the floor.
-Daniel K., Ladera Ranch
It started out as a small shake then just kept getting stronger. We had things falling off of shelves but no damage. We have a couple of long hanging lights and usually they swing back and forth but tonight they did not move at all. No damage but because we were close to the center it felt strong.
-Judith P., Lakewood
I was falling asleep on the couch, and I was awaken by the shaking, what spooked me was the sharp thump that felt like a bomb exploded. That was weird. I have been thru many of the big quakes here. This one was different because there was a noise that felt like an explosion. I thought it was the BIG ONE, but it suddenly stopped it was really short. Thank God.
-Martin G., Lennox
I live in a second story apartment and I was just walking outside onto the balcony when I felt it. Suddenly I felt a hard jolt and I thought a car had hit the building or something! Then my mom started yelling at me to get down the stairs (there aren't any power lines near by) and I realized it was an earthquake. Luckily, no damage, but my cat was certainly not very happy. Oh and just a new tip, if an earthquake like this hits, go onto Myspace, Facebook, or Twitter to communicate with your family. I couldn't get through with a cell call or text, but I could get through on the internet. Intense shock!
-Elyse, Lomita
I was driving back home from Orange County (Orange) and I had gotten off of the I-5 North at Brookhurst and La Palma Boulevard to gas up my van in Anaheim. Just as I approached the light, I felt the van moving like if somebody was pushing the vehicle around or the van was experiencing problems, yet the van's engine was running smoothly. I had stopped right on the bridge when the shaking occurred. Just as I approached the corner of Brookhurst and La Palma, I saw the traffic light pole shaking. Little did I know when all that was occurring, that we were having an earthquake. Even though I a bit shaken up, I'm okay.

-Judy E., Catalina Island
The house shook pretty intensely but, thanks to it's strong structure, everything kept it's place, even the China In the case of an earthquake, you don't want to use a cell phone because it overwhelms the cellular connections and causes a congestion in the signals, the best communication in situations like this is to use a payphone.
-Bruce, Compton

I felt my apartment moving but thought at first that it was someone moving things above me. Then I saw the door swinging and the rumbling continued and I realized that it was an earthquake. By the time I realized it, about 5-8 seconds, it was over. I felt the aftershock shortly thereafter which lasted only about 3-5 seconds. There was no damage.

I've been in at least one as a kid living in the LA area and a couple living up north in the bay area. THE BIG ONE IS COMING!
- Tim, Rancho Santa Margarita
I thought I was fainting at first because my sugar level was kind of high. I had just finished putting my 4-year-old in the bath tub. When my house began to shake.
