Fire Burns In Angeles National Forest Near Castaic

CASTAIC, Calif. (AP) ― A brush fire has erupted off Interstate 5 near Castaic in Angeles National Forest.

Los Angeles County Supervising Fire Dispatcher Melanie Flores says the blaze was reported at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday. The blaze has burned 20-25 acres.

Flores says no structures are threatened.

Northbound Interstate 5 is closed in the Castaic area because of smoke from the fire.

Inspector Steve Zermeno says that there is a description of a vehicle belonging to a person who may have set fires in at least three different locations.

Zermeno says about 150 firefighters are on scene, and since the blaze is also in the Angeles National Forest, a joint command has been established to fight the flames.
