Pasadena's rainy-season watering restrictions take effect Sunday, limiting lawn sprinkling to one day per week.
Drip systems, "smart" weather-based sprinkler systems and hand watering were exempt.
Residents with automated systems can choose to water lawns on Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m. during the restricted period.
Violators can be fined up to $1,000.
For more information, log onto the City of Pasadena's
Web site or call the Water Shortage Hotline, (626) 744-8888.
