6-Inch Water Main Ruptures Near Panorama City

PANORAMA CITY, Calif. (CBS) ― Crews worked Sunday morning to clean-up a muddy mess caused by a six-inch water main break near Panorama City, a utility official said.

The cast iron pipe broke around 8 p.m. Saturday near the 6900 block of Atoll Avenue, Kim Hughes of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.

The repairs were completed around 11:45 p.m., Hughes said.

The water main break interrupted service to about 50 San Fernando Valley customers.

"Customers were never without water, the only interruption was the water pressure was lower than normal because of the break," Hughes said.

The cause of the break was unknown.

Repair crews were expected to be at the scene throughout the morning.
