Officials say a male suspect uses a ruse to tell female drivers that there is a problem with their car and when they get out to investigate, he sexually assault them, say police.
A composite sketch was released Tuesday of the man Los Angeles police detectives believe is the "Sparkling Brakes" suspect.
They say he has used this ruse repeatedly during the early morning in the Mid-City area.
The first of the six assaults occurred in August, with the others occurring in the past month.
The man pulls up next to a woman driving alone and tells her that her car tire is sparking. He tells the victim to pull over and then offers to check the victim's brakes and tires.
The assaults have occurred on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Police are worried because the suspect has become more aggressive and there is concern he might seriously injure someone.
Anyone with information on the case was asked to call the Sex Crimes Detail at (213) 473-0447.
