3 Minor Earthquakes Hit Near Death Valley

TRONA, Calif. (AP) ― A trio of small earthquakes Tuesday shook a remote region near Death Valley.

Seismologists say the three temblors struck Tuesday morning in a span of about two hours and were centered in the same spot about 15 miles north of Trona.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.

Jessica Sigala of the National Earthquake Information Center said the largest was a magnitude-3.8 quake at 3:23 a.m.

A magnitude-3.4 quake hit later at 4:27 a.m.

The third was a magnitude-3.1 earlier Tuesday.

The epicenter of all three was 32 miles northeast of Ridgecrest and about 150 miles northeast of Bakersfield.

Sheriff's dispatchers in surrounding counties say there has been no word of any damage or injuries.

Several small earthquakes -- the largest a magnitude-4.1 -- shook the same area Sunday.
