Caught On Tape: Cops Looking For Sunglass Thieves

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― Try to follow this...one optical store, two burglaries, three suspects.

And Los Angeles police sought the public's help Wednesday in identifying the suspects whose images were caught on surveillance video in two of the burglaries of an optical store in West Los Angeles.

The first burglary occurred on Sept. 19 at 6:50 a.m. at the business in the 1800 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, police said.

A thief broke into the business by breaking a glass door, then ransacked the business, taking a large quantity of sunglasses.

The suspect was described as a white man with gray hair, wearing a dark colored jacket, white shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.

He was estimated to be as tall as 6 feet. Detectives believe there was an accomplice who did not enter the business. His image was not captured.

On Oct. 11 at 4:35 a.m. the same business was burglarized again, this time by two suspects who broke the front glass with a rock.

Again the sunglass stealers took a large number of merchandise. This time, the images of both suspects were captured on the camera.

The two suspects were black. One was between 30 and 40 years old, with gray hair and a gray beard. He was wearing a dark colored jacket with Dodgers on the back, dark pants. He was about 5 feet 10 inches tall and between 170 and 180 pounds.

The second suspect was about the same height and weight and was wearing
a dark colored jacket, white shirt, dark pants and black shoes.

Anyone with information on the burglaries was asked to call police at (310) 444-1523 or (310) 444-1522.
