Homeless Man With Rap Sheet Allegedly Stabs Teen

VILLA PARK, Calif. (AP) ― Authorities say a 14-year-old girl was stabbed and wounded by a stranger as she walked home from breakfast with a friend's family in Orange County.

Police and witnesses say the two girls were across the street from a bagel shop in Villa Park on Sunday when a man covered with dirt and tattoos approached them from behind and stabbed one of them three times in the ribs with a steak knife.

The girls fled to a gas station where the victim collapsed.

Two men from the gas station ran down the suspect and held him until
police arrived.

Sheriff's Lt. Ted Boyne said 48-year-old David Edward Eddy was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The victim's cuts were treated at a hospital and she was home by late Sunday.
