SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) ― There's been a lull Saturday but California is bracing for another bout of stormy weather tonight.

Up to 8 inches of rain are expected to fall through Sunday and there are storm warnings up in the mountains because serious snowfall is predicted. There are also reports of blustery winds.

In Orange County, fears of mudslides and flooding prompted authorities to issue voluntary evacuations for four canyons that were left bare by wildfires last year.

Residents have largely ignored previous pleas to flee in rainy weather.

This time, though, authorities say a week of storms has saturated the ground and made for a serious risk.

Hay bales and netting are in place and so far, only minor problems have been reported.
