A 32-year-old man was in custody on Monday for allegedly stabbing his brother in the back in Murrieta, police said.
Officers were called to the 24500 block of Corte Descanso about 5:30 a.m. Saturday by a resident who said his brother had stabbed him, said Murrieta police Sgt. Dave Baca.
They arrived to find Nathan E. Delacruz holding a knife with a small blade, Baca said. He immediately dropped the weapon when confronted by the officers, who took the Utah resident into custody without further incident, Baca said.
His brother, who was found inside the house with a large wound in his back, was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center, while Delacruz was booked into the Southwest Detention Facility on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, Baca said.
He remains in custody in lieu of $25,000 bail, pending arraignment on Wednesday, a clerk at the jail said.
Delacruz had posted $25,000 bail in a San Diego case in which he's accused of battery against a former companion, the clerk said.
