Man Shot Dead Outside NoHo Sears

The shooting occured in the Sears parking lot in the 6400 block of Laurel Canyon, near Victory Boulevard in North Hollywood.

Authorities are searching for a gunman who fatally shot an acquaintance in the parking lot of a Sears department store in North Hollywood Wednesday night.
The shooting occurred about 8:45 p.m. in the 6400 block of North Laurel Canyon Boulevard, near Victory Boulevard, said Lt. Bryan Lium of the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Station.
Police said the suspect and the victim had argued on the phone earlier and agreed to meet to settle their differences, Lium said.
But when they met, they started fighting, with one shooting the other once in the neck with a semiautomatic handgun, he said.
The shooter left in a black 4-door BMW 3-series sedan with no plates, Lium said.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead, he said.
Authorities said the victim and the suspect were described as men in their 20s.
